about

Dutch Courage St. Louis, Missouri

Dutch Courage is the alter-ego of St. Louis based songwriter Andy Puechner, who has been writing and performing his bedroom- folk & pop stylings since the summer of 2003. The music is centered around Puechner's voice & fingerstyle guitar work- melodic hooks are simultaneously barbed and gentle, with lyrics somehow both bitter and sweet, optimistic & wry.

Folk & Pop without fences.

Track Name: Tiger Tracks
If you feel like / there's a hot breath / on your neck there / like a weight
and you walk down / to the river, child / don't make that mistake

In the mud you'll see
tiger tracks
she'll be hiding in the reeds
she's waiting 'til
you turn your back
just to take you in her teeth

At the temple they / convinced you that / your soul rolls on / like a wave
and it's likely to / seduce you, child / don't make that mistake
Track Name: Taifa
I'm on a caravan / to the Taifa / through the wastes / and I lost everything / but everything falls into place

The old man's taken me on a journey / over icy peaks & barren plains / and I sold everything / but everything can't take your place

The Lascar deckhand's been telling me / 'bout seas as high as city gates / and I want everything / but everything can't be as they say

The sun blots out the horizon / the carrion birds are eyeing our mule / and I lost everything / but everything can't take your place
